Artist's Statement:
My small sculptures are a personal commemoration of my daily life experience and emotions. My work is about the poetry of discovery and change in daily life, even in the circle of routine days. I am constantly changed through every experience and emotion I feel. The pieces are small reminders not to miss the precious and quiet moments form our everyday life, but to celebrate them. I am also focusing on human senses-using the human senses fully to feel all that is precious. The works are not made only for visual stimulation, but also as a trigger for all of the viewer 5 senses.
They are all
connected sensations. "To feel the moment" can sometimes be a
difficult thing to do. People caught in the routine and "busy-ness
of the their lives are often unaware of the fragments of beauty
that exist in the everyday. I am increasingly aware of the rituals
in my life. The process of making an art object is one of my passionate
rituals -- a way of bringing my thoughts to life. I value the
private and intimate quality I create. Many layers of detail require
the viewer to come close to see or touch. The visual intricacy
commemorates the depth of my experience and emotion. The viewer's
involvement doesn't necessarily have to have the same meaning
as mine: everyone can create his/her own relationship to the object
by bringing to it their individual life experience.
