Michael Boyd , Jeweler, Designer, Colorist, Stonecutter

Michael Boyd is a nationally renowned jewelry designer, metalsmith, and lapidary artist based in Pueblo and Salida, Colorado. He and Geraldine Alexander are partners in the Cultureclash Gallery in downtown Salida.

Michael incorporates metal into rock and enjoys finding new ways to make this concept work. Michael uses many creative techniques for his line of jewelry as well as in the classes that he teaches. His materials range from simple river rock to precious stones combined with precious metals.

 

Artist StatementMy jewelry is a compilation of standard materials and processes aimed at a progressive and innovative use of unusual, rare, and traditional materials. In the collecting and choosing of stones, I am a colorist, and while cutting the stones, I define the form and structure. Using stone as a medium my goal is to blend and integrate these materials with the metal.
