Please pre-order if you are interested so they will have them available in tine for the class. 1 curved metal bezel burnisher
1 double Holenbach carver
1 wax spatula or spoon
1 very large needle with the eye end stuck into a cork
Sharp X-acto knife or small (like cuticle type) scissors
Materials suitable for embossing, such as lace, feathers, leaves, art paper; some things will be available during the workshop, but if you have a favorite texture, bring it
Sharpie permanent marker, black, regular fine tip
Your regular hand tools for fabrication, such as saw frame, half dozen 2/0 blades, snips, etc.
It is not necessary to have all of the first four items, as one or two will be sufficient. You will not have time to put together a project during this workshop, but you will have plenty of material, both from your samples and leftover material, to make quite a few projects.
SCORE FORMING
Saw frame and blades (as in above list)
Straight hand shears of good quality. Curves shears are optional, but allow more flexibility in cutting some of the shapes. Shears should be able to handle 2-gauage sheet of non-ferrous metal.
Hard silver solder (#70), in sheet or wire, according to your preference
10 – 1” diameter cut-off (separating) discs. The gray emery typed hold up better than the red type.
10 – 3/4” or less diameter cut-off (separating) discs of the gray type. The smaller the better for making compound and tight curves. That stash of cut-off discs that you have been saving because they are too worn down for other things is perfect.
3 – screw-in type mandrels for holding the cut-off discs
Small pieces of sterling sheet in 10-gauge-24 gauge, with a total area of 11/2” or more. No more than 2 gauges are necessary. Scraps are okay, as are scraps that are cut offs from other projects and have interesting shapes. Shears will be available for larger sheets to be cut down.
A small ball burnisher or old ball point pen that has run out of ink, to emboss lines on practice foil without punching or cutting through foil.
Safety glasses or goggles
Optivisor or similar magnifying glasses are OPTIONAL
OPTIONAL: NoName Patina Prep*
Please mark your tools. It’s not that anyone steals, it’s just that everyone’s tools look so similar, it’s easy to pick up someone else’s tool, thinking it’s your own. A wild color of fingernail polish is an easy way to identify them.

*NoName Patina Prep
This is a powdered polishing compound for cleaning mokume-gane, sterling,
shakudo, shibuichi, copper, brass, bronze, etc. prior to applying patina. Its
combination of rounded abrasives and mild acid removes discolorations and oxides
and leaves a soft, lustrous finish.
