Etching Silver Workshop

Date: 01 May 2006

• Safety goggles
• Apron
• Disposable gloves S
• Synthetic blend clothing worn in class
• PnP acetate (available for sale in the workshop at $2.75 for 8-1/2 x 11)
• Original drawings, clip art or computer graphics
• Sandpaper in various grits, 120-400
• 16-20 gauge sterling silver or fine silver. At least one sheet 2"x 6" is recommended plus any clean pieces of silver sheet you may have
• Colored nail polish, any color that will show contrast on the metal you use
• Electrical tape
• Non-metallic enamel paint pen, any color (no silver, gold or copper colors, as these usually have aluminum flakes in the paint, which affects the etching results)
• OPTIONAL: NoName Patina Prep *

Note: Please wear old clothing that you will not mind getting stained. Hair must be tied back. Do not wear any metal jewelry (including rings).

This is a powdered polishing compound for cleaning sterling, copper, brass, bronze, etc. prior to applying resist medium. NoName Patina Prep is available at the Naja.
